The french were the only ones who managed to design cars which would allow the interior to be converted into a complete and comfortable queen-size bed.
[Part II] On the other side of the Atlantic, European car manufacturers showed remarkable engineering and design efforts. The oil crisis in the seventies and growing environmental awareness in the eighties, contributed it’s part towards more fuel efficient engines. I think that during the second half of the previous century, car manufacturers really managed to design unique and outstanding vehicles with a particular feeling.
You could spot a car’s identity from far away because of it’s characteristic shapes and lines and even while driving, the behavior was typical and could be assigned to a brand or even car model. Unfortunately today none of this is true anymore. Cars look and feel more alike than ever before and technology wise, we’re stuck. Especially in Germany (!), manufacturers refuse to see the signs of the time: renounce gas and diesel, stop cheating and put more effort into electric cars, it’s long overdue now.
